Head of Support Services

£44,785 | Full-time, 35 hours a week

Glaucoma UK head office, Ashford, Kent or flexible working from home with some visits to head office

Role description

As Head of Support Services, you will be joining our senior management team as the primary lead for the development and delivery of Glaucoma UK’s support services strategy.

Your remit will include services for people affected by glaucoma, as well as professionals providing glaucoma care. The support services team comprises four sub-teams: outreach services, professional engagement, health information and a helpline. Between them, the team members deliver telephone and email advice, information booklets and guides, regional support groups and online webinars.

Services for professionals include training to help people with eye drops, a professional membership scheme and the delivery of our annual UK and Eire Glaucoma Society (UKEGS) conference.

Training and Engagement Officer (Southern England)

£30,210 | Full-time, 35 hours a week

Location

Home-based, with regular travel across service area and occasional trips to the charity’s Head Office in Ashford, Kent

Role description

As Training and Engagement Officer (Southern England), you’ll join our team of
three other Training and Engagement Officers covering Northern England, Scotland/ Wales and Northern Ireland. Across your region, you will be responsible for delivering our new, aspirational strategy by:

  • Hearing and being the voice of people with glaucoma across your region;
  • Providing support for people with glaucoma, potentially including support groups,
    conferences or working with local organisations to enable them to provide
    support;
  • Raising awareness of glaucoma, particularly amongst high-risk groups;
  • Training and collaborating with professionals who work with people with
    glaucoma.

    Your high-quality delivery of these services is central to our success is key in this role.

Professional Engagement Officer

£18,126 (£30,210 FTE) | Part-time, 21 hours a week

Location

Home-based, with some travel across the UK, and occasional trips to the charity’s Head Office in Ashford, Kent

Role description

As Professional Engagement Officer, you will be joining our small Professional Engagement team, which sits within our Support Services team. This is a new role, and you will be responsible for helping to deliver our professional engagement strategy. You will be responsible for the development of existing services such as eye care professional training and eye drops support boxes, as well as working with our Professional Engagement Manager to identify and implement new areas of professional engagement. You will also be responsible for the delivery of our annual UKEGS conference, for glaucoma professionals. You will work closely with colleagues in the wider Support Services team, including the Helpline, Outreach and Health Information. You will also be involved with the Communications and Fundraising teams, particularly around raising awareness of Glaucoma UK’s professional services, and engaging with corporate sponsors
