Glaucoma UK Helpline awarded Helplines Standard accreditation

Glaucoma UK is pleased to announce that its Helpline has been awarded the Helplines Standard accreditation in 2026, recognising the quality, reliability and compassion of the support it provides to people affected by glaucoma.

The Helplines Standard is the nationally recognised quality standard for organisations providing helpline services. Awarded by the Helplines Partnership, it recognises best practice in delivering safe, effective and person‑centred support.

As part of the accreditation process, Glaucoma UK’s Helpline underwent a rigorous assessment reviewing how the service is planned, delivered and supported, and how it meets the needs of people who contact the charity for information or emotional support.

The assessment found that “the commitment to delivering an effective, high‑quality service was strongly evident” and noted that “it was clear that the Helpline team are passionate about the service and are committed to providing high quality support and information.” The Helplines Partnership also highlighted the team’s clear focus on continuous review and improvement, ensuring the service reflects the experiences and concerns of people living with glaucoma.

Shelley Shocolinsky‑Dwyer, Glaucoma UK Helpline Manager, said:
“Our team cares deeply about the people who contact us, and this accreditation reflects both that passion and our commitment to delivering a consistently high‑quality service. It is reassuring for anyone picking up the phone to know they will receive clear, compassionate and trusted support.”

Joanne Creighton, Chief Executive at Glaucoma UK, said:
“I am incredibly proud of our Helpline team and the care, professionalism and commitment they bring to their work every day. The Helpline is a vital service for people affected by glaucoma, and this accreditation recognises both the quality of support provided and the difference it makes when people need it most.”

Glaucoma UK’s Helpline provides confidential support, information and reassurance to people with glaucoma, their families and carers, as well as to health and care professionals seeking guidance. People often contact the Helpline at times of uncertainty or worry, and the service plays an important role in helping them feel supported and better informed.
